Forrest Griffin defends the UFC light-heavyweight championship against Rashad Evans.
Also on the card, Frank Mir challenges Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira for the interim heavyweight title and Wanderlei Silva faces Quinton Jackson.
BLOW BY BLOW
Hey everyone, welcome to the UFC 92 Blow by Blow. Despite Matt Hamill, Dean Lister and Yushin Okami all being pushed to the wayside so CB Dollaway can have a spot on the PPV card, this looks to be a solid show.
We got two title fights and Jackson vs. Silva 3 -- need I say more?
Cheick Kongo vs. Mostapha Al-Turk
They exchange punches and Turk slips, but regains his footing. Turk throws a leg kick, but Kongo catches it and takes him down.
Turk is back up and presses him against the fence. Kongo reverses and delivers knees to the legs. Turk counters, but lands a low blow.
They restart and return to the clinch game, only this time Kongo knees Turk in the groin. The crowd approves. What did John Lennon say about instant Karma again?
Kongo explodes with a right and unloads with the ground-and-pound! The ref stops it!
(The Axe Murderer) Wanderlei Silva vs. Quinton (Rampage) Jackson
They refuse to touch gloves.
Jackson comes forward and throws some looping punches. Silva throws a couple hooks, but they're blocked. He hits a slapping leg kick.
Jackson lands a nice jab. He avoids a knee, but eats leg kick. Both guys are tentative.
Silva tries another leg kick, but slips. He recovers. Jackson lands a nasty left hook and Silva is out! Jackson gets his revenge!
CB Dollaway vs. Mike Massenzio
Dolloway hits a nice body kick and follows with a knee. He tries some kind of wild kick -- the less said about it the better. Massenzio lands a hard overhand right. Dollaway tries to shoot, but gets caught in a guillotine choke! He pops his head out.
Dollaway passes to side-control, but gets brought back to guard. He takes the mount against the fence and now has Massenzio's back. He rains the bombs and the ref stops it! Dolloway takes it by first round TKO.
Antonio Rodrigo (Minotauro) Nogueira vs. Frank Mir
Mir tries a head kick, but Nogueira blocks it. Mir lands a hard uppercut. He nails another one. Mir takes him down and lets him stand up.
Nogueira lands a nice jab. Mir drops Nogueira, but he recovers! Mir makes him stand up.
Mir nails another solid uppercut. Nogueira isn't doing much here; he needs to turn it on. Mir knocks him down again, but the round ends! Good round for Mir.
Mir keeps trying that uppercut, but can't land it. Just as I type that he nails it, unloads with the ground-and-pound and it's over! Mir finishes Nogueira! We are officially in Bizarro World.
Forrest Griffin vs. (Sugar) Rashad Evans
Griffin tries a head kick, but misses. Griffin hits a leg kick as Evans misses an overhand right. Evans comes back with his own kick to the leg.
Now Griffin gets one. Evans lands a good right-hook and hits a hard leg kick. Griffin attempts a couple kicks, but misses. Slow start for both guys.
Evans slips while avoiding a high kick, but regains his footing. Griffin is charging him with punches, but can't put him away.
Griffin is beginning to focus more on the leg kicks. Evans catches him with a hard overhand right. Evans tags him with two-punch combo and the round ends.
Evans catches a body kick and trips Griffin! He's unloading with hammerfists, but Griffin recovers to full-guard!
Evans lands a nice elbow to the Griffin's jaw. He starts unloading with punches to Griffin's face and the ref stops it! It's over!
