CroCop bolts UFC, joins DREAM

Mirko "CroCop" Filipovic has announced he's left the UFC and signed with DREAM fighting -- started by the executives who used to own Pride. Reports say DREAM has a co-promotion agreement with M-1, which may set up a Fedor Emelianenko/CroCop fight some time this year.

COTE HURT

The Fight Network says Patrick "The Predator" Cote -- who was to take on Alan Belcher in his home province of Quebec at UFC 83 -- has pulled out of the fight due to injury. Apparently, Cote fell on ice and will be unable to train for 4-6 weeks. Jason "Dooms" Day takes his place.

UFC VS. COUTURE

The UFC has filed legal paperwork against Randy "The Natural" Couture to try and stop him from making an appearance at the International Fight League show on Feb. 29. Couture quit the UFC in October and the two sides have been lobbing legal salvos at each other since. Now, sherdog.com is reporting billionaire Mark Cuban wants in on the legal scrap. The owner of HDNet Fights is suing the UFC, asking for clarification on Couture's contract.

A GIANT UPSET?

Russian Giant, 7-foot-1, 335-lb. Nikolai Valuev (47-1, 34 KOs) faces Sergey Liakhovich (23-2, 14 KOs) in a WBA heavyweight eliminator today in Berlin (the winner is first in line for a shot at champ Ruslan Chagaev).

PAVLIK VS. TAYLOR

Tonight, in Las Vegas, Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik squares off with Jermain Taylor in a rematch of their September WBC-WBO middleweight title bout, which Pavlik won by a seventh-round TKO.
