A face more familiar to fans than most fighters is packing it in. Referee "Big" John McCarthy is leaving the Octagon to take a job with The Fight Network as a mixed martial arts analyst. The former California cop leaves having officiated more than 500 fights. The main event at tonight's The Ultimate Fighter Finale will be his last.

MMA FATALITY

Sanctioned mixed martial arts suffered its first fatality last week. Featherweight Sam Vasquez was buried Thursday after passing away Nov. 30 from injuries sustained during a fight in Houston.

MAY RETURN FOR TITO?

Tito "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Ortiz is expected to return to the Octagon this May. A rematch with "Sugar" Rashad Evans is no doubt in the works.
