TORONTO - For a moment, Chad Owens thought he was in the UFC, where the big boys of mixed martial arts do their thing inside the octagon.

The next moment, his fling was over.

But what an experience he’ll now keep with him for the rest of his life.

“Amazing,’’ said Owens during a phone interview Monday from his native Hawaii.

“Amazing. It was well worth it, well worth the training, well worth everything.

“I’m not happy about the commotion and, yeah, I wish it wasn’t that way, but it was all worth it. What an experience to go through.”

Upon reflection, Owens understands why so many with the Argos were concerned over his health when Owens decided to take part in an amateur mixed martial arts event last Saturday, where he endured two three-minute rounds.

For the record, Owens came out fine, his health and wits in check, his appreciation for MMA more pronounced, his commitment to football unwavering.
