As expected, Ronda Rousey’s first title defence will be against former champ Sarah Kaufman.

The newly crowned Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion will meet the Victoria, B.C., native at a yet-to-be announced Strikeforce card in August.

An exact date and location have not been finalized.

Rousey, a bronze-medal winner in judo at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, submitted Miesha Tate to capture the belt in March.

Although she’s only been fighting professionally for 14 months, Rousey has an undefeated record of 5-0, with all her victories coming via armbar.

Meanwhile, Kaufman’s last outing saw her win a thrilling majority decision over fellow Canadian Alexis Davis at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey in a fight-of-the-year candidate.

She was crowned the first Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion with a unanimous-decision victory over Takayo Hashi Feb. 26, 2010.

After a successful title defence against Roxanne Modafferi five months later, Kaufman was submitted by Marloes Coenen at Strikeforce: San Jose Oct. 9, 2010.
