'Affliction: Day of Reckoning' predictions

NEIL SPRINGER -- SLAM! Sports

, Last Updated: 2:19 PM ET

Chris Horodecki has been forced to bow out of his fight with Dan Lauzon due to a bulging disk in his neck.

Paul Buentello (26-10-0) vs. Kiril Sidelnikov (5-2-0)

This will be the very definition of a slugfest.

Known as 'Baby Fedor,' Sidelnikov is already known as a hard-hitting heavyweight. His ground game needs some work, but he probably won't need it tonight against a known striker like Buentello.

Both guys have knockout power, but I think Sidelnikov will shock the tough veteran.

Predictions: Sidelnikov by first round KO/TKO

Renato Sobral (31-7-0) vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (5-3-0)

Despite having a rocky stay in the UFC, Sokoudjou still has a ton of potential in this sport. If he can keep this a stand-up affair, he may be able to put 'Babalu' away.

However, I expect Sobral to get this to the ground, where it will be an ugly night for 'The African Assassin.'

Predictions: Sobral by second round submission

Matt Lindland (21-5-0) vs. Vitor Belfort (17-8-0)

This fight will unfold one of two ways -- either Belfort will score a spectacular knockout early on, or Lindland will it gut it out to decision.

Since Belfort has had problems with wrestlers in the past, my money is on the latter. I'll be praying for a KO though.

Predictions: Lindland by decision

Josh Barnett (23-5-0) vs. Gilbert Yvel (35-12-1)

It will be interesting to see if Yvel can walk away from this fight without any controversy. Known for being a dirty fighter -- even going so far as to assault referees -- Yvel could have the most memorable performance on the card for all the wrong reasons.

However, since he had to jump through a few hoops recently get his license reinstated in California, I'm guessing he'll be on his best behaviour tonight.

Barnett needs to take this fight to the ground as soon as possible. If he stays standing, he runs the risk of getting knocked out. He's smart enough to know not to trade with Yvel, so expect Barnet to take this by submission.

Predictions: Barnett by first round submission

Fedor Emelianenko (28-1-0) vs. Andrei Arlovski (14-5-0)

Arlovski has looked incredibly sharp in his recent fights -- winning his last three by KO or TKO. However, Emelianenko should be able to get past his striking and take this to the ground.

Arlovski has good submission defense, so it may take a few tries, but I expect Fedor to earn a tapout victory tonight.

Predictions: Fedor by second round submission
