UFC president Dana White is branching out. White is behind a new Spike TV drama about the Irish mob in Boston. White tells Hollywood Reporter he came up with the idea three years ago and has brought in Chris Bertolini of The General's Daughter fame to write the script. White says the show will be geared to young males and will have plenty of violence, sex and bad language.
BAD FIGHT, BIG PAYDAY
Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson may have lost the fight, but he won big at the bank. Slice was dismantled by last-minute replacement Seth Petruzelli in last week's CBS Saturday Night Fights. Slice was to take on Ken Shamrock, but a cut during his warmup forced Shamrock out of the fight. Slice took home $500,000 for his 14-second loss. That's more than $35,000 per second.
DID THEY, DIDN'T THEY?
EliteXC brass is under the microscope after 11th-hour replacement Petruzelli told an Orlando radio station organizers hinted to him that he should stand up with Kimbo Slice -- a move that would favour Slice. Petruzelli has done a bit of backtracking, but the air of whether EliteXC bosses tried to help Slice hasn't cleared. This one isn't over yet.
ACE IN CYBORG SOLDIER
Rich "Ace" Franklin fans can see the ex-champ in his acting debut in Cyborg Soldier, now out on DVD. Franklin plays a futuristic Robocop-meets-Terminator cyborg. Amber Thiessen, of Beverly Hills 90210 fame, co-stars in the movie that was filmed in Canada.
