Floyd Mayweather plans to return to the ring September 13, but his next opponent and the site of that bout are to be determined.
Mayweather is scheduled to fulfill a six-bout agreement with Showtime by next fall. The Sept. 13 fight announced by chief promoter Leonard Ellerbe is the fourth fight in that $200 million megadeal.
"Floyd will go on Sept. 13 ... we are looking at who he's going to fight and where he's going to fight," Ellerbe said.
One option is Brooklyn at the Barclays Center, a venue that made a "tremendous offer" to host Mayweather's last bout (May 3) against Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas. Mayweather lives in Las Vegas and calls the MGM Grand his home arena.
There is an outside chance Mayweather's next fight will be a rematch with Maidana, who felt he defeated Mayweather (46-0) earlier this month but said he is anxious for another shot. Ellerbe said Maidana is in the mix of multiple candidates.
