Adonis (Superman) Stevenson of Montreal successfully defended his World Boxing Council light-heavyweight title with a technical knockout of Tony Bellew Saturday night in Quebec City.

Stevenson bested the U.K. fighter in the sixth round. The Montrealer landed a strong punch to the face, toppling Bellew. The Brit got back up but Stevenson cornered him and attacked him repeatedly with a rush of uppercuts, causing referee Michael Griffin to call an end to the fight.

With the win, the king of the light-heavyweight class is in a good position to win Fighter of the Year for 2013.

The first two rounds were not particularly exciting, as neither boxer managed to get many solid punches in. However, Stevenson (23-1-0, 19 KO) became increasingly convincing starting in the third round.
