Floyd Mayweather Jr. is so keen to fight Manny Pacquiao on May 5 that he has phoned his fellow welterweight champion in the Philippines to state his case.

"They spoke," Leonard Ellerbe, one of Mayweather's advisers, told ESPN.com on Thursday.

Ellerbe wouldn't discuss what was said.

But Pacquiao said in a television interview in the Philippines that they talked about staging the fight on a 50-50 purse split. Widely considered the two best fighters in the world, Mayweather and Pacquiao could generate $100 million or more in revenue from the proposed bout.

Mayweather has the MGM Grand in Las Vegas booked for May 5.

Do you think the officiating has been fair in the Kings-Sharks series?
  Yes
  No
No ... but the refs seem to be evening it out themselves
