MONTREAL – Romanian-Canadian boxer Adrian Diaconu will have a prime opportunity to return to his former spot among the world’s best on May 21 when he fights American Chad Dawson at the Bell Centre.
Diaconu (27-2, 15 KO) will take on Dawson (29-1, 17 KO) on the undercard of the world title fight between Montreal’s Jean Pascal and Philadephia native Bernard Hopkins.
The Diaconu-Dawson fight is noteworthy on a couple of fronts.
Not only are both men former WBC light-heavyweight champions, but the winner might end up as the main challenger for the Pascal-Hopkins winner.
The featured bout is a rematch of the Pascal-Hopkins bout that ended in a controversial draw in Quebec City on Dec 18.
