Manitoba’s Julio Escorcia Jr. settled for a silver medal in boxing after losing to Nova Scotia’s Jason Downey 17-4 in the male 49-52-kg gold medal bout at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax, N.S., on Friday night.
Meanwhile, Manitoba’s Kyle Doering has advanced to Saturday’s semifinal versus Saskatchewan in curling.
The winner will play in Saturday’s gold medal game, with the loser dropping into the bronze medal match.
