Steve (Robot) Cantwell vs. Luiz (Banha) Cane

Round one

They high-five and Cane begins to stalk him. Cane delivers a good straight-right. He tees off with a combo that ends in a body kick. Cantwell is backtracking from the hard shots and attempts a takedown. They clinch on the cage.

Cane lands some knees from the Thai clinch. Cantwell tries a head kick, but Cane blocks and unloads. Cantwell avoids it. Cane delivers a nice combo, which included a stiff body shot on Cantwell.

Cantwell lands a leg kick. He tries another, but Cane checks it. Cantwell is bleeding from the nose. Nice body shot from Cantwell.

The round ends.

Round two

Cantwell takes octagon control. Cane keeps shoving his jab in Cantwell's face. Cane starts opening up on Cantwell, catching him with jabs and leg kicks. He delivers a nice body kick. Cantwell catches him with a solid body kick. Now he's pushing forward.

Cantwell delivers a full on head kick, but Cane just brushes it off like it was nothing. The crowd is booing for some reason.

They trade straight punches and Cantwell is pushing forward. Cane delivers a two-punch combo as the round ends.

Round three

This is anybody's fight at this point.

Cantwell hits a solid leg kick. Cane starts to unload with punches, but Cantwell gets out of danger. Cantwell explodes with a combo of his own and tries a head kick, but it's blocked.

Cane tries a flurry against the fence, but Cantwell steps out of harm's way. Cane delivers a body kick. Cantwell tries one of his own, but takes a stiff left. Cane tags him a few times with jabs. The round expires.

The story of this fight is all over Cantwell's face.

Winner: Luiz Cane by unanimous decision.

Cheick Kongo vs. Antoni Hardonk

Round one

Kongo delivers a leg kick and blocks a head kick. Hardonk is pressing forward and they exchange punches. Hardonk misses a head kick. Kongo now comes forward with a leg kick. They clinch on the fence, but that goes nowhere. The ref separates them.

Kongo catches a kick and dumps Hardonk. He starts kicking the legs until the ref stands Hardonk up.

Kongo goes on the attack with a body shot and presses him against the fence. Kongo knees the inside of Hardonk's leg. Kongo takes him down -- or more accurately, gently place him on the ground.

Hardonk has Kongo's arms tied up. Kongo manages some body shots as the round ends.

Round two

Kongo comes forwarded and drops Hardonk. He unloads with ground-and-pound, but Hardonk manages to trap him in his guard. Kongo postures up and starts punching, landing some hard shots to Hardonk's face.

Kongo gradually opens Hardonk up and finishes him with punches on the ground.

Winner: Cheick Kongo by TKO at 2:29 of the second round.

Krzysztof (The Polish Experiment) Soszynski vs. Brian (All American) Stann

Round one

Soszynski starts with a leg kick. Stann returns with a two-punch combo. Stann lands a leg kick of his own. They clinch against the cage. Soszynski lands a knee, but Stann gives him a body punch.

Soszynski shoots and takes Stann down against the cage. Soszynski has full-mount, but switches to side-control. Stann gets back to his feet, but is dumped to the mat. Soszynski takes side-control and secures a kimura for the win.

Winner: Krzysztof Soszynski by submission at 3:53 of round one.

Chuck (The Iceman) Liddell vs. Mauricio (Shogun) Rua

Round one

The Bell Centre absolutely erupts for Liddell's entrance -- it's just as loud as Georges St. Pierre's reaction from last year.

Rua takes octagon control and avoids a leg kick. He delivers one of his own. Rua tries a head kick, but it's blocked. Liddell tries to swarm him, but Rua avoids any damage.

Hard overhand right from Rua. He tags Liddell with a left. Another overhand right from Rua. Rua takes him down and tries for a leg lock. Liddell spins out and Rua now has his back in a standing position.

They separate and start slugging it out. Now Liddell takes Rua down, but lets him stand up. Rua connects with a huge left-hook that drops Liddell! He delivers numerous strikes on the ground and the ref stops it! Is this the end of The Iceman?

Winner: Mauricio Rua by TKO at 4:28 of round one.

Sam (Hands of Stone) Stout vs. Matt (Handsome) Wiman

Round one

Wiman comes out ready to fight. He tries a takedown, but can't get it. He charges forward and finally gets Stout to the mat.

Stout tries to use the cage to stand up, but get his legs swept out from under him. Stout manages to get back to his feet. Wiman lands a hard straight-right.

Wiman hits a hard overhand right -- he's gotten the best of the striking exchanges so far. Wiman Tries a guillotine choke, but can't secure it.

Wiman comes charging back with a flurry of strikes. Stout is starting to land body kick. Wiman puts a stop to that with a takedown attempt, but Stout lands on top.

Round two

Wiman comes forward again; attempting, among other things, a superman punch. Stout lands a hard body kick. Wiman eats a jab, but keeps moving and takes control of Stout's back. He's riding a little high, though.

Stout dumps him and is now in Wiman's guard. They stand back up and Wiman tries to rush him. Stout makes him pay with a hard right.

Stout almost connects with a head kick. Stout drops him, but almost gets armbarred when he goes in for the kill. Wiman shoots for a takedown, but can't get it.

Round three

Wiman keeps the pressure on Stout by charging forward. He delivers a solid leg kick. Wiman shoots, but can't get the takedown. He finally trips Stout to the ground. Wiman takes his back and tries for a rear-naked choke. He starts throwing punches to open him up.

Stout spins out and into Wiman's guard. Stout starts throwing elbows before standing back up.

Wiman gets a takedown. He lands a hard elbow on Stout's face. Stout has a butterfly-guard and tries to stand up, but Wiman is back on top of him. Stout is bleeding now. They slug it out as the round ends.

Winner: Sam Stout by unanimous decision.

Anderson (The Spider) Silva vs. Thales Leites

Round one

Both guys are being patient. Silva seems to be waiting for something to counter, but Leites isn't giving it to him. Silva tries a jab, but Leites avoids it. Leites connects with a body kick.

Silva is now starting to chase him down. Silva's got his hands all the way down here.

Leites lands a hard leg kick. Silva is stalking Leites, giving him little room to move. Silva trips Leites and kicks him in the legs. Leites stands up and almost gets a takedown. They clinch on the fence as the round expires.

Round two

They start out slow again. Silva may be giving Leites too much respect here. Leites gets a takedown, but is caught in Silva's half-guard.

Silva brings him back to full-guard. Leites tries some ground-and-pound before standing up. He dives back into Silva's guard. Silva is going for a triangle choke. Silva gets to his feet and makes Leites stand up.

Silva's hands are all the way down again. Silva seems determined not to come forward. He keeps waiting for Leites.

Round three

Leites tries a hard leg kick, but gets dumped to the mat for his trouble. Silva lets him stand up. Leites comes forward, but falls down -- it looks like he caught a finger to the eye.

Leites is back on his feet. He tries a take down, but Silva stuffs it. The crowd is booing heavily; now they're starting a 'GSP' chant.

Silva pushes Leites over and walks away. This is another puzzling performance from Silva.

He does it again.

Silva tries a jumping kick to the delight of the fans. He tries to swarm Leites against the fence. Leites dives to the ground, but Silva walks away.

I'm starting to think Silva just wants to toy with his prey from now on.

Round four

Silva kicks Leites' leg, sending him off balance. He delivers a couple more kicks to the knee. Leites tries a head kick. Silva answers with one of his own.

Silva delivers another kick to Leites' knee. The crowd is booing again. This time, I can't blame them.

The round ends. This is one of the strangest fights I've ever seen.

Round five

Leites needs something big if he hopes to win.

Silva delivers another leg kick. Leites tries a takedown, but Silva reverses. He delivers some punches and lets Leites stand back up.

Another failed takedown attempt by Leites. Silva just stands up and lets him go again. The crowd gets a very loud "bullsh-t" chant going, before switching to "GSP" again.

Leites tries a body kick, but Silva catches it and trips him. They stand back up. Leites tries another takedown and Silva walks away again. The round expires.

I can't believe this went the distance.

Winner: Anderson Silva by unanimous decision.
