VICTORIA - There are occasions, coming from a Brier played before five-figure crowds in an NHL buildings when you get to a World Curling Championship and get hit by the “Is That All There Is?” feeling.

Not this time.

Not for the Soo Crew.

Not for the Royal Bank account manager, general contractor, Ontario Lottery brand manager and real estate appraiser who won the first Brier for Northern Ontario in 28 years.

“We’ve never experienced that before,” said skip Brad Jacobs of the crowd of just under 3,000 in the Save On Foods Memorial Arena cheering for Canada in their 7-6 win over China’s Rui Liu to open the event.
