They may not be at their best just yet, but Rachel Homan and crew took a step in the right direction Sunday.
Responding nicely to a touch of adversity on and off the ice, Team Canada reeled off a pair of wins to improve to 2-1 at the world women's curling championship in Riga, Latvia.
Canada defeated Latvia's Ivana Stasa-Sarsune 7-5 in the afternoon draw before elevating its game in an 8-2 demolition of Lene Nielsen of Denmark in seven ends in the nightcap.
While the Ottawa Curling Club rink still doesn't quite look like the unit that roared to a Scotties Tournament of Hearts title last month in Kingston, Homan's team certainly is back on track after a tourney-opening 6-4 loss to Eve Muirhead of Scotland on on Saturday.
The rink, which endured a 24-plus-hour delay in snowy Frankfurt, Germany thanks to flight woes en route to Latvia last week, got together for an evening practice session with veteran coach Earle Morris Saturday and came out Sunday playing a much better game.
