KINGSTON, ONT. - As they stood side by side, embracing the roar of the crowd and the enormity of the moment, four Ottawa girls, tears forming in their eyes, did what no Ontario team has been able to do since Marilyn Bodogh in 1996.
Standing close by, Sunday night, absorbing what those girls wearing Ontario's colours were feeling was Winnipeg's Jennifer Jones, four times a champion here at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts ... but not this time. Gracious as a champion, gracious as a runner-up, she applauded the champs ... young guns, the future.
Skip Rachel Homan, third Emma Miskew, second Alison Krevaziuk and lead Lisa Weagle, united by curling and a thirst to be the best, beat Jones 9-6 in a rollercoaster ride of a Scotties final.
