Putting together a successful team that can contend at the highest level of women's curling in Canada involves not only finding players with knockdown shotmaking ability, it's also about finding the C-word.
Uh, C-word "∂ chemistry "∂ what did you think I meant?
One of the reasons for the success of Heather Nedohin's Team Canada rink out of the Saville Sports Centre is they've pieced together the puzzle with a wonderful mosaic of personalities, with third Beth Iskiw, second Jessica Mair and lead Laine Peters enjoying what's been a wonderful and sometimes wacky ride along the way.
They've been nails so far this week at the Scott Tournament of Hearts, now 6-0 after defeating B.C.'s Kelly Scott 7-5 Tuesday night. Team Canada is tied with Ontario and Manitoba for top spot, setting up a meaningful and exciting matchup Wednesday afternoon, with the Edmonton team playing Manitoba.
"We scored a bit two in six and I thought that was a big shift," said Nedohin.
