Snapshots: Sask. third Johnston is curling for two

KINGSTON, ONT. - Less than two months from delivering her third child, Kara Johnston is getting a chance Canadian women curlers dream about.

Johnston, 33 weeks pregnant, is the third for Jill Shumay's Saskatchewan team, which also includes second Taryn Holtby (sister of Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby) and Jinaye Ayrey, at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. It's the first Scotties appearance for all of them, but it's Johnston's belly that is getting plenty of attention.

"I've never been concerned," said Johnston, 37. "My body has grown through the season. Everything has naturally progressed and I feel really good out there. I feel better in the hack than I do when I'm tying my shoes.

"I've worked hard to maintain my fitness so I can still be effective as a sweeper. I'm a little more tired by the end of the day, but life goes on around it."

Johnston, who is due April 3, has two girls -- Devrie, 8, and Presley, 6.
