SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. -- Team Canada's Jennifer Jones rebounded from two straight losses with a hard-fought 9-7 victory over Alberta's young Valerie Sweeting in a Scotties Tournament of Hearts contest at the Essar Centre this morning.

"Yeah, it felt better," Jones said. "There are still a few uncharacteristic misses out there and hopefully, we'll improve. But a win is better than a loss. And I thought we played better."

Jones, who played terribly Monday, was shooting 100% until her first miss in the sixth end when she sailed an attempted draw through the house, surrendering a steal of two.

Jones improved to 4-2 and a tie for third place with B.C.'s Kelly Scott, who nipped Manitoba's Jill Thurston 7-5. Scott faces Jones this afternoon. Thurston, who dropped to 3-3, plays Alberta this afternoon.

P.E.I.'s Kathy O'Rourke continued her incredible run as she knocked off Nova Scotia's winless Nancy McConnery 7-4 to take sole possession of top spot at 5-1. O'Rourke plays Ontario's Krista McCarville tonight. McCarville is 4-1 heading into this afternoon's match versus Newfoundland.

In the other game this morning, New Brunswick's Andrea Kelly clipped Yukon/NWT's Sharon Cormier 9-7 in an extra end.
