Defending Brier and world champion Glenn Howard had no trouble ripping through the Ontario playdowns.

Howard has four Brier titles and four world championships.

He’s making his 15th Brier appearance and eighth straight as the Ontario skip and has appeared in a record 182 games.

You’d think nothing could phase the future Hall of Famer.

But something has.

Before his march to the 2012 Brier and world titles, Howard named his son Scott his fifth man and he was proud that his son was able join him along the way.

Fast forward to this year and it’s been somewhat of a rocky week for Howard and Son.

After graduating from junior last year, Scott tagged up with the up-and-coming John Epping team based out of Toronto.

On Sunday, Epping gave Scott a call, informing him he was cut.

“That was a little bit unexpected,” said Howard.

Are you surprised Don Cherry backed Daniel Alfredsson's comments?
