While Kevin Martin has a chance to go down in history as the first skip to ever win five Briers, Marc Kennedy is working on his own claim to Brier fame.
He’s played in four previous Briers and he’s been the first team All-Star second all four times.
Kennedy is getting into interesting territory.
Only one player, Glenn Howard, has been a first team all-star six times.
Three others, all out of Edmonton, did it five times — Randy Ferbey as a third, Don Walchuk as a second and third and Pat Ryan as a skip and a third.
“That’s the elite comparison right there,” said Kennedy, admitting it’s something he very much wants to achieve.
After he won it the second time he said it made a statement.
“It said I wasn’t a one-hit wonder,” was how he put it.
“I like these trophies because it shows consistency. To get one of these things, you have to be consistent through a long event. My goal as a curler is to be consistent.”
