EDMONTON - In the last 10 years, British Columbia sent nine different skips to the Brier.
Count ‘em.
Pat Ryan. Jay Peachey. Deane Horning. Brian Windsor. Dean Joanisse. Bob Ursell. Sean Geall, Jeff Richard. Jim Cotter.
And now Andrew Bilesky.
So you get the idea this is not the first time the question “Who are these guys?” has been asked.
It’s just that this year Belisky is a ‘Who?’ in a ‘Who’s Who’ Brier field loaded with household names and familiar faces.
“I wouldn’t say that we are intimidated with all the big names and players who have so much experience in the Brier this year,” said Bilesky, a 29-year-old aircraft avionics technician from New Westminster who started curling when he was nine.
“It’s more that we are so excited and honoured to play in such a high-class event with the best teams in the world.”
