EDMONTON - It was called 'The Last Shootout of the Century' and it was a shootout that was going to give Jeff Stoughton a chance to replace the immortal Ken Watson as Manitoba's greatest curler before his career was over.
It was 1999 in Edmonton and, with a young third by the name of Jon Mead, Stoughton won his second Brier in four years.
It was only going to be a matter of time until the then 35-year-old from the winningest province in Brier history joined Watson as a three-time Brier champion skip and then went after the famed Ernie Richardson for four.
