LEDUC – It’s going to take historians a few days to add it all up. But there’s an excellent chance the Edmonton 2013 Tim Hortons Brier will set records for most experience and championships won.

“It’s a gooder, that’s for sure,” said Edmonton’s Kevin Martin.

“There’s a lot of Brier experience there, that’s for sure. I’m not going to say it’s the best Brier field yet because that one in Halifax ion 1995 ranks right up there. But people can start arguing about it right now.”

And it’s in Edmonton where Martin can make history.

ALBERTA

No skip has ever won five Briers before. But Kevin Martin, who joined Ernie Richardson and Randy Ferbey as a four time winner, has a chance. In 2009 Martin joined the elite group. Ferbey won his fourth in Edmonton in 2005. Martin, the Olympic gold and silver medal winner and world champion, now has a chance to make history as he curls in his 12th Brier. The Old Bear has curled 139 Brier games with 107 wins.
