EDMONTON - Mounties are hurrying hard to find a championship ring belonging to a member of the Canadian Men’s Curling Team who took home the gold at the Sochi 2014 Olympics.

The ring belonging to Brad Jacobs was stolen from a motel room in Boyle, Alta., Mounties say.

Jacobs, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., was in town to take part in a charity golf tournament, staying at a motel while he was there, June 20 and 21.

Cops said Wednesday that thieves swiped the ring, and also took a handful of other personal items.

The ring has a square face with the Olympic Rings in the centre.

The words “Olympic Champions 2014” are inscribed on the border, and the inside reads “Brad Jacobs Skip.”

“The ring has a great amount of sentimental value to Mr. Jacobs,” RCMP Const. Alex Ayres said. “While we continue to investigate the theft, our hope is that the ring be reunited with Mr. Jacobs.”
