WINNIPEG - Brad Gushue quietly made the observation to a few people at the opening banquet.
“You can see now with who is struggling. It’s the same people I made those observations about,” said the 2006 Torino Olympic gold medal winner.
He saw which teams were uptight. And he saw which teams weren’t. Look at the standings this morning and you can figure out who he was talking about.
“That’s the experience part of it. You can think about the Olympics before you get here, but not when you get here,” he said.
“At the end of the day you still have to throw eight rocks an end. You have to relax, have fun and enjoy it. A large part of the success we had in 2005 in Halifax was because that’s what we had.
“And that’s the attitude I see here with Kevin Martin and this team. I have a pretty good feeling. I like what I see. I like the attitude. They’re all enjoying it and not letting it consume them.”
