CALGARY - Four years ago, Ben Hebert and John Morris celebrated together after clinching their spots at the Vancouver Olympics at Olympic Trials.

No matter what happens once the first rock is thrown Sunday at the Roar of the Rings, that won’t be happening again.

Morris, who lives in Chestermere, left Edmonton skip Kevin Martin’s team this summer to join up with Jim Cotter’s B.C.-based team — which includes second Tyrel Griffith and lead Rick Sawatsky — and was replaced by Edmonton’s Dave Nedohin.

“I think having a new player and having Kevin and Dave seeing eye-to-eye on the back end and getting along great has brought a new refreshing energy to the team,” said Hebert, of Calgary. “More than anything, Kevin’s got his growl back. He’s playing really good. I haven’t seen Kevin play this well in a couple years.”

The adjustment certainly seems to have gone well for the team.
