WINNIPEG - 'Cathy O' is finding herself in a rather strange role these days.

Winnipeg's Cathy Overton-Clapham is playing regularly for an out-of-province team for the first time in her illustrious curling career. She replaced Erin Carmody as third for Alberta's Crystal Webster in May.

With second Geri-Lynn Ramsay and lead Sam Preston, Webster will continue preparations for the pre-trials event at the World Curling Tour's Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Women's Classic at the Fort Rouge Curling Club this weekend.

But Overton-Clapham has spent the first part of the season still getting to know her new teammates.

"It's been really hard being away from home and my family," said Overton-Clapham, who has not only competed in four out-of-province cashspiels, but spends much of the rest of the time practising in Calgary. "I'm in Winnipeg maybe a couple of times a week."
