EDMONTON - Kevin Martin may have dropped a huge hint about who he'd like to coax into his lineup after his longtime third John Morris decided to jump ship on Wednesday.

The 2010 Olympic gold medallist needs somebody with Morris’s ability willing to step in for what is sure to be Martin’s final run for an Olympic medal.

“Starting Monday morning, we’ll start making calls,” said Martin.

Considering a season-ending junior spiel is on the ice at the Saville Centre until Sunday, Martin could well be waiting for 2012 CIS champion Brendan Bottcher to finish his weekend.

Martin’s son Karrick played lead on that team and the team’s Brier fifth has some chemistry with Bottcher.

“To have a new start, even at my age, is pretty exciting,” said Martin.

If Martin is looking for a short-term answer with absolutely no ties, he may consider Richard Hart, the former long-time third for rival Glenn Howard.
