LETHBRIDGE, ALTA. - Move over, Cinderella ... Kristie Moore has won the Alberta Scotties.

Moore beat two-time Alberta champ Renee Sonnenberg 8-7 in Sunday's final, making a phenomenal draw in the extra end to win her first Alberta title as skip.

The winning shot was hot out of Moore’s hand. She called the sweepers off and watched as the rock curled just enough to tap back the buried shot rock and stop in time at the back of the button.

“I thought it was pretty close,” said Moore. “My major concern on the ice is — it’s so nice and it moves so much — was overcurling, because I’ve had it happen a couple of times this weekend.

“Basically, I was hoping the line would hold long enough and once it did, I figured it would either break enough or slow down.”

For a gal who hasn’t skipped since 2005, Moore showed nerves of steel.
