Scoffin, Rocque move up in standings

EDMONTON - If you don’t like your position, wait a day.

Just ask Thomas Scoffin and Kelsey Rocque.

Both Edmonton-based teams were undefeated in the playdowns heading into the Alberta Junior curling championship.

Yet, heading into Day 3 at the Thistle Club, both team were looking up at undefeated leaders.

It might have been a case of cream rising to the top as both skips came up with crucial Friday afternoon wins that gave them the inside track to first place when the round-robin portion of this event wraps up Saturday morning.

Scoffin took care of Airdrie’s Mike Roy while Rocque got into first place with a win over Karynn Flory.

“We came to play today and it feels good to get that (9-2) win,” said Scoffin.

A Scoffin loss would have put the pre-event favourite into a precarious position, but he managed to avoid that fate.
