Jennifer Jones back on the ice
Continental Cup just what the doctor orderedBy KIRK PENTON, QMI Agency
WINNIPEG - Manitoba's most famous curling mom will hit the ice on Thursday for the first time since giving birth. Winnipeg's Jennifer Jones is part of Team North America, which will battle Team World at the Continental Cup this weekend in Penticton, B.C. Jones hasn't curled in a major competition since The Players' Championship last April. She gave birth to Isabella, her first child, on Nov. 13. Returning to a major competition with 23 teammates, which includes Isabella's father and Glenn Howard second Brent Laing, is just what the doctor ordered for the 2008 world champion. There won't be as much pressure, and the stakes aren't as high as a provincial or national championship. "I couldn't have asked for it to be any better," Jones said Wednesday from Penticton. "It's a great event where I get to be on the ice and play some games on the arena, which is fantastic, but we don't play 10 games a day as well. It's great to get out there slowly and get ready for provincials." |
