Deer Lodge's Alex Forrest and Assiniboine Memorial's Michael Johnson continued their winning ways yesterday at the provincial junior men's curling championship.

Both teams won twice yesterday and improved to 4-0 in the round-robin portion of the event.

Stonewall's Jared Kolomaya and Pembina's Riley Smith were both 3-0 in the other round-robin pool going into last night's late draw at the Deer Lodge Curling Club.

Defending champion Sam Good was 2-1 going into last night's action.

In the junior women's championship at Charleswood, the Red Group was as lopsided as could be. Four teams were 4-0, while the other four were 0-4.

The perfect teams included Stonewall's Meghan Armit, Pembina's Shannon Birchard, Victoria's Kate Cameron and East St. Paul's Erika Sigurdson.

St. Vital's Breanne Meakin and Ste. Anne's Alyssa Vandepoele were 3-0 in the other pool heading into last night's late draw.

MCEWEN, TAYLOR ADVANCE

Mike McEwen and Brendan Taylor were the first to qualify yesterday at the Manitoba Curling Tour Championships in Brandon.

McEwen, who plays out of Assiniboine Memorial, downed Brandon's Terry McNamee 6-4 in one A-side qualifier, while West Kildonan's Taylor edged West St. Paul's Reid Carruthers 7-6 in the other.
