Team Canada's Kaitlyn Lawes was playing Russia's Margarita Fomina in the Page playoff three-versus-four game at the World Junior Championships in Vancouver last night.

The winner will advance to tonight's semifinal versus the loser of last night's one-versus-two playoff between Switzerland and Scotland at 9 p.m. The loser will play in tomorrow's bronze-medal match against the semifinal loser.

The winner of the one-two game will advance to tomorrow's final. None of the games are being televised.

Lawes had beaten all three playoff combatants in the round robin.

MCT OFFER: The Manitoba Curling Tour agreed to add an event at the end of the season and now it needs more entries for both the men's and women's draw.

Organizers of next week's SuperSpiel in Morris have even come up with a unique offer to entice both junior and senior squads to the event. They are offering to subsidize the entry fees to either high-end junior men's and women's or competitive senior men's and women's teams to both give them a chance to compete and to ensure the strongest possible field.

The subsidies will be returned from any earnings.

The bonspiel committee is seeking 24 men and 16 women's teams but will go with 16 and 12, respectively, if necessary. They need an answer before tomorrow. Check the MCT website for contact info.

Entries are open to anyone. In fact, the Chinese men's team has entered to warm up for the men's world championship in Moncton, N.B.
