Curling fans hoping to see the world's best teams at the Air Canada Centre this fall will have to go to Mississauga instead.

The Masters of Curling event, a pre-Olympic bonspiel involving four Canadian and 10 international men's teams, will be held at the Hershey Centre Oct. 21-25.

Ticket packages stating that the bonspiel would be at the ACC were sold to members of area curling clubs. At least 1,700 full event packages were sold in the Toronto Curling Association's pre-launch sale, which ended last March.

"It came down to economics and logistics," Wendy Kane, executive director of the Capital One Grand Slam of Curling, said yesterday.

Kane said that there would not be enough time to install proper curling ice at the ACC before the event. "We needed the time to put in quality ice," she said.

The two most recent world champion teams, skipped by Kevin Martin and Glenn Howard, will be in the bonspiel, as will Norway's Thomas Ulsrud, China's Fengchun Wang and Germany's Andy Kapp.
