Kelly Scott is off to a quick start at the Autumn Gold Curling Classic.

Scott, the defending Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion, put together back-to-back wins yesterday at the $56,000 bonspiel.

The Kelowna skip beat New Brunswick's Andrea Kelly 7-2 in the morning draw before later edging Canadian Olympian Glenys Bakker 9-8 last night at the Calgary Curling Club.

"I couldn't have asked for anything more from today," said Scott, whose team includes Renee Simons, Sasha Carter and Jeanna Schraeder.

But it wasn't without its tense moments.

"It went right down to the wire," said Scott, who didn't have to throw her final rock.

"Her last rock looked like it was going to settle in there but it picked up something."

Scott moves on to face Russia's Liudmila Privivkova in play today.

"They're a good team," said the former world champion.

"We played them a couple of weeks ago in Vernon."

Scott beat the Russians 7-2 in that event, her team's lone appearance this season.

"We've only got about 10 games under our belts so we're still getting going."
