Rules or sportmanship?
Depends on which side of the decision you're on.
Shane Park was fuming yesterday after a burned rock cost him a 9-8 decision to Collin Herbers.
Park tried an off-wing angle to clear Herbers's shot rock at the top of the button and stick for three.
But, as the rock was a foot away from its target, it was touched by lead Darryl Huff's foot.
Herbers's third Brad Hannah and Gary Greening immediately called 'burned rock' and Herbers stole the game.
"Poor sportsmanship,'' fumed Park, convinced that the shot would have been made even if it hadn't been burned.
"That rock is made all day. Brad Hannah is always Mr. Etiquette. He and Gary Greening are always acting like they're the nice guys on the ice - and now this (stuff) happens.
"It's probably an age thing. They're 48, 49 years old and they want to win at any cost.''
Herbers acknowledged the fact the victory that kept him undefeated was won on a technicality.
"It's never good to win a game like that,'' said Herbers. "Nobody wants to win it that way.''
