The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Diane Foster put up a good fight against the Ultima World Curling Tour and won.

The local skip won a cashspiel in Medicine Hat earlier this season but was told organizers had not registered the event with the WCT. Therefore, her winnings would not count toward her point standing and would leave her without any opportunity to get into The Players Championship in Calgary, April 11-16.

Earlier this week, she received an e-mail from WCT president Paul Boutilier, saying the Medicine Hat result will be applied to Foster's tour winnings.

"We won a big battle," said Foster, whose rink earned a berth to Southerns this past weekend. "Once the money list is updated, we'll be in 14th place instead of 30-something. It's going to make a big difference."

There are 15 berths into TPC, which is slated for the Corral, but only the top 12 from the money list are expected to be invited. Three spots are left open for a U.S. team, a European team and a sponsor's exemption.

"Maybe we can get to know the sponsor really well between now and then," Foster said, laughing. "But whether or not we get in, we are a heckuva lot closer.

"Some teams higher than us might decide not to come because of the expense. All I know right now is instead of just knocking on the door, we're pounding on it."
