HALIFAX -- It was that close.

Jeff Stoughton lost to Brad Gushue by a quarter of an inch.

"If that ... if it rolls another half inch, we're still playing," Stoughton said.

Stoughton was talking about the measurement on a rock which ended up just out of the rings due to a sweeping error.

It left him with one, not two, after a measurement on the 10th end. Instead of going to an extra end, Stoughton was headed back to Manitoba an 8-7 loser.

"The fourth end hurt," he said of giving up a steal of two to go down 6-2. But Stoughton fought back and made a game of it.

"It was a great game. It was a good battle," he said. "It's just that to come so close ... it hurts a lot more than finishing 10th."
