It went down to the last night of the regular season again to determine their identities, but now we know the 16 teams that will start the two-month march towards the summit of Mount Stanley.
For NHL fans, there is no better time of year if your team is one of the Sweet 16.
Heroes will emerge. Which goaltender out there who will be this year's Jaroslav Halak (it won't be Halak; after last year's amazing run with the Montreal Canadiens, he's on the outside looking in with the St. Louis Blues).
Favourites will fall. Which No. 1 seed will be unable to fulfill its promise, like the Washington Capitals last spring? It happens every year.
Underdogs will soar. Which team could be this year's Canadiens, which rattled off upsets of the Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins?
Hearts will be broken. That will be the case in Vancouver if the Canucks, the best team in the regular season, don't finally fulfill the potential with which they've been teasing their fans for the last couple of seasons.
It's a two-month marathon that starts Wednesday.

From what I've seen in the last few weeks most of the favorites can be had. I'm a Canadiens fan, so I'll say Habs and Canucks with the Habs pulling it off in 7. A parade on my birthday !
