Which NHL team will win the Stanley Cup?
Mon, April 11, 2011

By CHRIS STEVENSON, QMI Agency

It went down to the last night of the regular season again to determine their identities, but now we know the 16 teams that will start the two-month march towards the summit of Mount Stanley.

For NHL fans, there is no better time of year if your team is one of the Sweet 16.

Heroes will emerge. Which goaltender out there who will be this year's Jaroslav Halak (it won't be Halak; after last year's amazing run with the Montreal Canadiens, he's on the outside looking in with the St. Louis Blues).

Favourites will fall. Which No. 1 seed will be unable to fulfill its promise, like the Washington Capitals last spring? It happens every year.

Underdogs will soar. Which team could be this year's Canadiens, which rattled off upsets of the Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins?

Hearts will be broken. That will be the case in Vancouver if the Canucks, the best team in the regular season, don't finally fulfill the potential with which they've been teasing their fans for the last couple of seasons.

It's a two-month marathon that starts Wednesday.

Which team is your pick to win the Stanley Cup? Have your say in our forum.

slam.canoe.ca will be the perfect blog for anyone who wants to know about this subject. You know a lot its practically difficult to argue with you (not that I really would want). You absolutely set a whole new spin on a topic thats been written about for years. Fantastic things, just excellent!

Cup belongs in Canada, pulease! I live in New York, but lived in Boston for 6 years and came to appreciate the passion of the fan base while living there. Forty years without the Cup is long enough and these fans deserve to see them win!

Also, I can't wait to see Bruins President Cam Neely, a British Columbia native and one of the top four to ever don the black and gold- the order being Orr, Borque, Eddie Shore and Neely-get given a piece of the action with a winner. Too bad he never got to hoist the Cup during his career, but any team facing Edmonton in '88 and '90 was going nowhere fast in those series.

This has been a great series, but it's time to win this for Cam!

This has been a weird series. Both teams have been very chippy with lots of "theatrics" on both sides. Vancouver falling down and crying and Boston going "I didn't do anthing" hands in the air after what should have been a penalty. Maybe game 7 will be a different story and they will stick to just playing hockey. The NHL sure looks like they want Boston to win so it will be tough for Vancouver.

As much as I would like to see a Northeast team win the cup, gotta go with the Canucks, will be nice to have the cup back home where it belongs IN CANADA. Van in OT

Who is playing?

Living in Canada I should be cheering on Vancouver, but I am not. What a bunch of dirty players.Every time they crash Thomas out comes the stickwork. If the referees gave the Canucks a penal;ty everytime they slashed, poked, jabbed Thomas after the whistle they would have been gone in four. The only reason they made it this far is the referees have let them get away with too much garbage after the whistle.Surprise is that the Sedins are the worst of the lot.Too bad they aren't man enough to drop the gloves.Hope the Bruins win

Canucks are finished. Final score will be 3-1 Boston.
