Canadian hockey fans are apparently able to separate the heart and the brain.

Almost half of those polled by by Leger Marketing for QMI Agency said the Montreal Canadiens, who are off to a fantastic start, are the Canadian NHL team with the best chance of winning the Stanley Cup this season.

In a poll of 1,508 Canadian adults Nov. 22, using Leger’s on-line panel, 46% of adults 18 and older said they believe the Canadiens are this country’s best hope to win the Cup.

As you might expect, Quebeckers led the way with 77% believing the Canadiens, who went on a surprising run to the Eastern Conference final last spring, are the team with the best shot at bringing Lord Stanley’s mug back to Canada. The last time one of the six Canadian teams hoisted the Cup was in 1993, when the Habs won.

The Canucks lose a couple of games and there not contenders anymore.Once again being forgotten in the West.

Ridiculous, poorly researched argument. The Habs have actually done quite well against the better teams (wins vs. Flyers, Kings, Bruins, Penguins, Canucks when they were better), but have dropped games to the Leafs, Thrashers, Predators, Devils and Panthers.

Nonsense. Montreal has played half their games vs. six of the worst teams in the NHL. They are in a weak division, in a weak conference.

Vancouver is a much better team.

That the Montreal team has the best chance at the Stanley Cup there's little doubt in my mind, if we are considering Canadian teams only. However, I don't think they'll go all the way! Still, if they stay healthy and Price continues in his present form, who knows, it may just happen.

I agree, habs have a solid goaltender and quickness up front. They may lack some in size but I am sure they will tweek that weakness and come up with someone who can help them in that area.
