Which Canadian city deserves an NHL team? Sun, January 30, 2011
In a player poll released by CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada and the Players’ Association before Sunday’s all-star game at the RBC Center, 53% of over 300 players polled supported a move by the league back to Quebec City.
Asked what Canadian city deserves a franchise, Winnipeg was a distant second at 25%. A second team in Toronto was at 16% and Hamilton wasn’t on the map with only 5% of NHL players supporting a move there.
The players wouldn’t support getting rid of fight anytime soon. A whopping 98% maintained fighting shouldn’t be banned and 66% are for keeping the controversial instigator rule in place.
Should there be a seventh NHL team in Canada? If so, who should get it?

Hey Calgarydon, you need help with Geography, the question is "which Canadian city deserves an NHL team". You respond with Los Vegas. I guess you need help with spelling as well, it's Las Vegas. You know what Canadian city does not deserve an NHL team? Calgary, not as long as morons like this guy live there.

Don't forget, Gary needs to get a team into Los Vegas first. Seriously, any team added to Canada will be a plus. Quebec City and Winnipeg first, only for sentimental reason. No complaint if Ontario gets another first.

Toronto still needs a team... Put one there!

Any of quebec city, Hamilton or Winnipeg is fine by me, but I think it is time for our fed gov't to try and encourage a team to come to Canada. It is a disgrace when London, Ontario can get 10,000 fans and you look south of the border. And think of the Montreal Quebec rivalry or Hsmilton Toronto rivalry. Consider Winnipeg as Canada's version of the Green Bay Packers for the Prairies. If only someone can help us get 3 more teams for Canada! Good Luck everybody!

Contrary to popular opinion, both Quebec City and Winnipeg had great fan support with sold buildings nightly. Problem was they needed new rinks and with the Canadian dollar artificially deflated it was not possible at the time. Wages paid in US funds and the Canadian dollar at its proper value this would no longer be an issue. Hockey originally failed in Denver, Minnesota and Atlanta and they have teams again. Winnipeg first Quebec second, Hamilton third. Phoenix, Atlanta and Florida Panthers would be my choice of relocation!

Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge area. Strong fan support from all of South Western Ontario and Toronto support wouldn't suffer very much. NO TEAM IN QUEBEC.

We need a public uprising against the NHL system as it stands - it is effectively the US HL - we need a new system with at least one Canadian team in each province.

I'd like to see an NHL team in the Maritimes. I DO NOT want to see another team in Quebec. Winnipeg... meh... wouldn't mind but I honestly don't think the city will be able to support a team to the degree that the NHL extects.
As for Bettman... the 'man' should have been removed as NHL Commissioner years ago. He's taken too much Canada out of the game and made it his game. I live for the day he either leaves or is booted from the position and a Canadian becomes the commissioner.
Until then, I think the Leafs have a better chance of winning the cup than seeing another team in any Canadian city.

It'll never happen as long as Bettman is around....Time to limit terms at the top.

Jimmy: They didn't support them? You must not have been around in those days. Those teams moved strictly because of ownership issues. The fan support was definitely there and it still is.
