Can Kaberle and Wilson clear the air?
Wed, September 8, 2010

By LANCE HORNBY, QMI Agency

Tomas Kaberle made it clear Wednesday that he's in control of his fate with the Maple Leafs and his relationship with Ron Wilson -- not his well-meaning father.

In his first comments about Frantisek Kaberle’s shots at coach Wilson, the Leafs and Tomas’s supposed dim future in Toronto, the younger Kaberle said his father was just sticking up for him, though not in the public manner he’d approve. Frantisek, a respected player, coach and father of two NHLers, popped off to a Czech hockey magazine when the Leafs didn’t trade Tomas as expected.

But Kaberle echoed Wilson’s belief that a sit-down before training camp should settle the matter.

Do you think Kaberle and Wilson will be able to clear the air this season? Would a trade be in the best interests of Kaberle and/or the Leafs? Have your say in our forum.

Kaberle finally speaks

This is for Robert.

Things can't get much worse in Laffland.

When did you accept the Laffs wereout of the playoffs?

For me it was at the end of November when Laffs lost to the Sens?

What about you?

Robert,

It's Christmas, are you there?

As predicted, Laffs are done for the season which for me ended Nov 27 when Sens beat Laffs 3-0.

Could comment on many reasons for this lost season but feel that the morose, tactiturn and reticent Phil Kessel is the wrong fit for Toronto where the fans wil ride him relentlessly after next year's Laffs 1st round draft pick is announced by Boston.

Burke might have to start all over as this crew just can't seem to gell.

Omitted "in their last 7 games" after the 1-5-1. But I think you understood that.

Lets review this at Christmas. I have this feeling that Wilson and Acton are dead men walking and that crackling sound are the ankles breaking of those jumping off the bandwagon.

Laffing - 1-5-1 , what league you looking at , just saying.
Robert, 2010-11-09 21:15:36

Laffs are 1-5-1 Robert because the other teams only have to concentrate on Kessel. There is no secondary goal scoring, no strength down centre ice and the team doesn't have the nergy level to go flat out every single second of every single game.

You have to wonder about the coaching when so many adequate players who come to the Laffs flop. I mean, could it be the Ron Wilson system turns them off?
Laffing, 2010-11-03 09:08:38

Hey Laffing , they're 3-0-0 , just saying .

What did Wilson do? Grab the A off Kaberle's shirt just as he was coming off the ice?

It says here that if the Laffs go 0-3-1 to start Wilson will be gone. Can they be bad to start? Absolutely. There are a lot of "ifs" on this club such as what happens if they don't have any secondary goal scoring, the defense plays as bad as they did last year and JSG can't regain his mojo?

Btw, isn't that Peddie a riot? Giving Burke an A!

The Kessel trade imho means the best you can Burke is a D. In fact, what does Peddie say if Burke's team is out of the playoffs by Christmas?
Laffing, 2010-10-07 09:00:30

IF they make the playoffs. IF your uncle had different equipment he'd be your aunt.

To get there you need to have a low GA or at least be able to score sufficiently to win enough games. Toronto has neither the D or goaltending to substantially reduce their GA, nor has their PK shown any significant improvement over last year's pathetic effort.

And with clutch-and-grabbers like Phaneuf and Kaberle and giveaway artists like Komisarek on D, and only Kessel having any ability as a natural goal scorer (don't even suggest that Bozak, Versteeg and Grabovski are "natural" goal scorers) they'd have to win a lot of 1-0 2-1 games.

And I wouldn't bet the farm on "The Monster" ar Giguere being the second coming of Johnny Bower.

Above all that they have absolutely no depth, so when injuries hit (and they always do) where do they go for replacements? That lot with the Marlies?

Wilson will be gone by the early New Year, along with Tortorella and de Boer. It wouldn't surprise me to see Boudreau among ther unemployed either, as I think he's another Jacques Demers whose act wears a little thin after a few seasons.

Don't know why people are saying that Wilson is terrible... just look at his record with the Ducks. He needs to be given a chance to turn things around. There are far too many "arm chair" coaches in Leafs nation and I think Kaberle moving up to a forward position will be a good thing. Wilson is trying to inspire players to play to their own abilities which is higher than what they are playing like right now. Once they can get it together as a team then they will start winning. I think Wilson as coach is a breath of fresh air to Toronto and think that Wilson is putting his stamp on the team as we progress through each of the last 2 seasons. Look, Wilson and Burke are in control not the fans so stop complaining about everyone making the wrong moves and start showing some support for the team... If they make the playoffs this year all those "stay at home" critics will abandon their won rediculous comments.

Not until Kaberle trades his skirt for a pair of pants.
