Is it time to expand video replay in MLB? Thu, June 3, 2010
Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga was one out away from a perfect game, but a close play at first ended his bid for the record books.
Video replays of the potential 27th out showed Cleveland Indians baserunner Jason Donald was beat by Galarraga's catch while covering first base, but umpire Jim Joyce ruled the runner safe.
Joyce admitted his mistake on the field and apologized after the game.
Is this the latest example for Major League Baseball to expand video replay on close calls? Should baseball keep the human element as a part of the game? Have your say in our forum.

Absolutely, we have it in hockey, the fastest game in the world and we got used to it. It has enhanced the game by ensuring it is won by the players and not the officials. this young kid was robbed by this ump and while he is sorry, it doesn't return his place in history back to him. It's time baseball smartens up and does the right thing.

The umpires are human, they make mistakes. You don't want to undermine their judgment, but this was a black and white call (out or safe) and he got it wrong. It might be a different story if all the buzz was over a balk or something.
