What's your opinion of the Maple Leafs' trades? Sun, January 31, 2010 The Calgary Flames shipped Dion Phaneuf, forward Fredrik Sjostrom, and defenceman Keith Aulie to the Maple Leafs in exchange for forwards Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers and defenceman Ian White.
Later Sunday, goalie J.S. Giguere from the Anaheim Ducks for embattled goalie Vesa Toskala and overpriced forward Jason Blake.
So Exelby gave up his # 3 to Phaneuf immediately! Does he know something we don't (yet)?
Aulie may be the real diamond-in-the rough here.

Wow Burke gave up a lot in the deal but it would cost big for the names he got. All in all good moves for each team. Sad to see Stajan go same for Hagman, only real assets they had and could see other teams wanting.
nobody gonna be scoring now hehe. must be banking on a lot of one goal games.
Here's a tip for Mr Wilson. Make your lines and leave them alone. There is no way any line can develop synergy with your constant (daily) line changes. Wake up or you will be packing up next.

I think the Flames/Leafs did a great trade. I think Dion is a "good" player but is far to arrogant for my liking. When he first started with flames he was amazing. But in the past to years he has seen little to know improvement. His comments on the news last year just strengthen my resolve that it was time for him to be let go from the flames

So Raycroft won a game against a horrible hockey team, it's too bad he has to have some kind of personal grudge to be able to perform. He beat the Leafs, who hasn't. Have no fear, he'll soon go back to stinking the joint out like he did in Toronto and Colorado last year. Let him have his day in the sun, but have no fear he'll be back to his old .850 SV% and 3.5 GAA soon enough.

Seems like a great deal to me! How about the next one? Beauchemin to Montreal for PK Subban?
foxman, 2010-02-01 08:38:53
Burke takes the trash to the curb and comes back with Phaneuf and Giguere?
WTF?

They should have tried trading for Raycroft from Vancouver since their still paying him. Saturday night was priceless!

I think Dion is a great young defencemen and sorry to see him go I would have rather seen one of the others go not Giordana I think I understand Sutter spending too much money on certain players but maybe he needs to rethink his desicions example Ole
