Mikael Tam of the Quebec Remparts was listed in stable condition in hospital after taking an elbow to the head from Rouyn-Noranda centre Patrice Cormier, who captained Canada at the recent world junior hockey championship.
This is just the latest in a series of vicious head shots at the NHL and junior levels this season.
There was speculation that the QMJHL, which has come down hard on cases of violence this season, will suspend Cormier for the rest of the season and perhaps for the playoffs.
That was a very dirty hit. I play way better than that bum and I am 11.....eat it!!

the equipment used today is more like military body armour. go back to 60's style and watch all head shots disappear. would be less stick swinging as well.

There's no reason at all for a vicious blow like that. This is worse than the Liambis hit earlier this season. Suspend him for the rest of the year and playoffs.

Enough is enough. If the players can't control themselves, then lets stick it to the junior hockey clubs with heavy heavy fines. The message isn't getting down to the players, don't you think.

the Cormier hit was alot worse then the 2 OHL guys hits, one was suspended for season, other is suspended indefinatley. It will be interesting, although from different leagues, but same level of Hockey if Cormier gets what he deserves which should be the year.

For this particular hit, Yes Patrice Cormie should be gone for the remainder of the Rouyn-Noranda season, however long that is. As for head-shots in general there should be an automatic non-appealable 10-game suspension. Better yet, get rid of the current gear and go back to leather pads.

No doubt!! Throw him out! Watch the video & see the deliberate elbow to the head. Easy, easy, easy decision. There's no room in the game for this kind of crap!
