What's your opinion on Fleury's comments?
Fri, January 8, 2010

By ERIC FRANCIS, QMI AGENCY

Somehow, between acting lessons, reading movie scripts, pawning his book, recording a country music song and shooting the accompanying video, Theo Fleury managed to write a blog that has underscored just how little The Little Big Man can be.

Burning perhaps the last bridge he had to the hockey world by referring to those in the Flames organization and the NHL who gave him the chance to clear his name with a comeback attempt last fall as “stupid” the 41-year-old went further by suggesting he never should’ve been cut.

Yet, by mid-afternoon the blog had been removed from his site theofleury14.com as “it wasn’t worth the headache.”

No wonder Fleury hasn’t followed the advice he dispensed in his best-selling autobiography 'Playing With Fire' by telling police he was allegedly abused by coach Graham James — he’s just been too darn busy.

“At this time last year, I was 45 pounds overweight and thinking about making a comeback. HAHAHAHA!” wrote the former Flames captain Wednesday of his reinstatement dreams.\

“Anyway, we put our nose to the grindstone and boy did we make a comeback. At one hundred and eighty pounds, I finished 11th out of 56 guys at camp in the fitness test and scored a historic shootout goal in an exhibition game after being out of hockey for six years. What does that say about the talent level in the NHL? 4 points and a plus 4 rating in four exhibition games and I get cut.

"What a joke! Craig Conroy goes the first 37 games of the season with zero goals. I wonder how many I would have had. Even with all the stupid people that run the game of hockey, it’s still a great game. Go figure.”

What's your opinion of Fleury now? Has it changed? Have your say in our forum.

perhaps if he hadn't screwed over so many people with his immature behavior in the first place people would take him somewhat seriously. To come forth as a victim when it suits his purpose for publicity is a joke. Did he ever consider Kennedy could have required his suport. Fleury does what helps Theo. Did that include James, so he could further his ambition. I have no respect for him as a man.

He is a goof who is well past his best before date. One good look in the mirror and he just may see he was the maker of his own demise (choked on the silver spoon).

What's so wrong with saying what you think. Too bad politicians didn't have the guts to speak their mind. (oh yeah I forgot telling what you really think will never get you elected). We're nearing the point that whenever someone speaks, somehow someone else will be offended. I'm tired of hearing everyone having to say sorry for free speech. Good for you Theo and yeah you should have made the team.

This is not a man but an attention starved child that is looking for some attention now that publicity has died down since training camp.

I agree with his comments about NHL in general. NHL is a fixed league. Bettman has given everything and anything to the American teams to promote them. Referee's are tougher on Canadian teams to give American teams a chance especially those who's stands are filled with visitor fans. League is a crock of crap. The people who sit there and compliment the league are those that never even played the sport. I'm almost 99% certain of it. To me NHL is WWE on skates. Bettman might think people are completely stupid but if you look at the results of struggling teams in the US and the fact they have next to no fans, I think people are smarter than Bettman thinks. Fleury was a great hockey player, I think he still had some years in him to play but he got screwed over. Oh well, now it's time to make something else of his life. If he wants to speak his mind on this and that, he can do as he likes. If people don't want to listen, that's their perogative. I appreciate someone who will speak their mind than a yahoo who sits there and gobbles up everything that's said to them. Too many NHL fans are just that, they swallow all the crap and don't speak up and that's why the NHL is such a crock of a league.

hopefully Theo will get to the day where he is finally not angry or bitter any more and there is somebody left that he hasn't grossed out with his nonsense. He obcviously still has a ways to go.

he is a jerk in every sense and his latest antics just prove the point. go away you are a no thing.
