What's your opinion on Fleury's comments?
Fri, January 8, 2010

By ERIC FRANCIS, QMI AGENCY

Somehow, between acting lessons, reading movie scripts, pawning his book, recording a country music song and shooting the accompanying video, Theo Fleury managed to write a blog that has underscored just how little The Little Big Man can be.

Burning perhaps the last bridge he had to the hockey world by referring to those in the Flames organization and the NHL who gave him the chance to clear his name with a comeback attempt last fall as “stupid” the 41-year-old went further by suggesting he never should’ve been cut.

Yet, by mid-afternoon the blog had been removed from his site theofleury14.com as “it wasn’t worth the headache.”

No wonder Fleury hasn’t followed the advice he dispensed in his best-selling autobiography 'Playing With Fire' by telling police he was allegedly abused by coach Graham James — he’s just been too darn busy.

“At this time last year, I was 45 pounds overweight and thinking about making a comeback. HAHAHAHA!” wrote the former Flames captain Wednesday of his reinstatement dreams.\

“Anyway, we put our nose to the grindstone and boy did we make a comeback. At one hundred and eighty pounds, I finished 11th out of 56 guys at camp in the fitness test and scored a historic shootout goal in an exhibition game after being out of hockey for six years. What does that say about the talent level in the NHL? 4 points and a plus 4 rating in four exhibition games and I get cut.

"What a joke! Craig Conroy goes the first 37 games of the season with zero goals. I wonder how many I would have had. Even with all the stupid people that run the game of hockey, it’s still a great game. Go figure.”

What's your opinion of Fleury now? Has it changed? Have your say in our forum.

Go away Theo! Enough of your disloyal crap! People covered your back for years and now you crap all over them. Are you on booze and drugs again? Who is going to help you get over that this time?

If Graham James did as he accuses then he need to file a complaint. If not, shut up.

Don't be burning bridges it may bite you back someday. The only person that can control your personal situation is you the person.

Sounds like a case of I was a millionaire; blew all my money on stupid ventures (not my fault), I was a druggie (but it was James' fault), the only thing I could really do well was play hockey, but I was better at chirping-off at people and blame everyone but me for my personal choices and problems. I failed at baseball whats left? Be a responsible blue collar worker and get a real job, Theo!

What he said about the Flames and even the NHL to some degree is absolutely right.

So none of you posting YOUR opinion here are ego maniacs or are stroking your own ego, lol, come on!

Hero to zero. Did he feel he hadn't been in the media for a while?

If Theo had any ounce of courage at all, he would pursue criminal charges against Graham James. Until he does this, he is nothing but an attention seeker.

Very disappointing to hear that Theo has chosen not follow up on either the sexual assault charges against Graham James or the rehabilitation clinic. Instead, he has decided to pursue some sort of half baked music career along with "having fun" in lieu of actually doing something tangible to help people. Like a fool I had convinced myself that the "new" Theo Fluery was someone who had "risen-above" and was now in a position to be a REAL role model. Disappointed, yet not surprised, to see that Theo is still a immature, selfish, ego-driven man despite the enormous opportunity to truly help those around him.

Insofar as his return as a professional hockey player, c'mon, be serious! I challenge anyone to say he should have made the Flames. Nostalgia aside, it was obvious that even in the preseason his lack of footspeed and endurance would have been exposed. Give me Conroy in the dressing room any day over Theo (and I bet the entire Flames team would back me on that one!)

I think what Theo did in his comeback was remarkable and he did deserve a second shot with the Flames. He would have been productive playing on a wing with Iginla and would've easily had 15 goals right now. If the Sutters weren't scared of someone who would question their brillance of mediocrity he would've at least started the season with the flames. Man, the tone of your articles on Fleury make Graham James seem innocent and make Fleury sound like someone who should be quiet and thank people for not asking his opinion. His views do matter since they are published whenever he dares to question anyone in the NHL.

He has always been a little ego maniac.

Theo is just a little A-hole

I used to think that Theo was a jerk when he played for the Flames, as I was an Oilers fan.

Through friends of our, Theo provided me with insights about drug abuse and how minor hockey coaches really play a major role in kids life. For what Theo said about my personal situation made me look at him with a new found respect and admiration. For that i would like to shake his hand and thank him.

I see Theo's comments no different than any other fan who speaks his mind. Good on him.

Tom. Common on. The NHL is a fixed league? That'a a joke. Yes, Bettman is a tool who caters to the American teams, but the league is not fixed.

As far as Fleury, he should have voiced his displeasure when the team cut him. It's over, THeo, let it go.
