Are you proud of the Canadian junior team?
Tue, January 5, 2010

By TERRY JONES, QMI AGENCY

This was just wrong. So wrong.

Great Canadian hockey stories end up with Canada winning 6-5, not losing.

And great Canadian junior hockey stories end up with Jordan Eberle the hero.

But the ending didn't fit the script.

What are your thoughts on Canada's junior team following their overtime loss to the U.S. at the World Junior Hockey Championship? Have your say in our forum.

Silver in this case - is great.

Each and every guy on the team fought as hard as they could.

These guys lost in OT in a game that both teams wanted to win.

We are talking about teens handling a country's worth of pressure and expectations, doing it with courage and class.

This was not the perfect game from either side, but what is important, is the effort everyone involved put out.

They went all out to win silver or gold - they're all winners.

Congratulations boys and Thank You. Hope you achieve your future dreams.

This was the worste canadian junior team I have ever seen. They were slow, making poor passes and couldn't stay out of the box. I think half the problem was the coach didn't seem to me like he even cared how the team played. Bad penalty after bad penalty and he didn't even look like it fazed him. In order to be competitive with the USA/Russia you have to bring yoru A game, stay out of the box and work hard.

Our goalie was pathetic. He should have been pulled immediately after the second goal. Things just got worse from there. Even average goaltending would have clearly meant the difference in getting the gold medal. The Americans were handed the gold as even unscreened shots were going in.

Great game, the USHDP seems to be working well for them. I thought we were outcoached, should have pulled our goalie after the second goal.

From what I saw the Americans were a faster, quicker team, I think the Canadians were caught believing their own hype...

Mr. Jone's comments about "that was just wrong. So wrong" is such juvenile reporting, like, get over it. But that pales in comparison to the medias's bleeding heart patronizing & worshipping blitz, it was an insult to my senses. There are hosptials & charities in this country doing great things, get a perspective grip please.

I am a Canadian, I am a hockey fan, but please stop the pandering sugar coat express.

Very proud of them. They just happened to face a team that was quicker and better organized defensively --- the US outplayed them in both games and it was Canada's goalscoring touch (named Jordan Eberle) that sent both games into OT. They completely destroyed every other team they played, so if Canada loses to a better team once every 5 or 6 years, I'll take that.

Winning gold would be great for our Canadian boys. But the lessons that they've learned would last a lifetime. Maybe this would be motivation for next year's team to start a new winning streak.

I am proud of their accomplishment. They did an outstanding job. All of Canada should be proud as these fine young players (soldiers) gave nothing but their best. I salute you.

These were two evenly matched teams who gave us a spectacular display of skill, speed, and spectacular skating.

The referee didn't help much in the first period, but the late call against the US in the third gave us a chance to get back in and tie the game.

A couple of goal posts,a crossbar or two, and a stuff-in that hit the side of the net could have made the difference, but showed that Lady Luck was not riding with us last evening.

As on New Year's Eve, when down at the end, our boys did not quit and battled back. Wear your silver medals with great pride, boys, we are proud of all of you.

Did anyone miss the absence of fights?
